TRAINING PROGRAMMES

Elementary Flight Training

The PAA Elementary Flying Training (EFT) course is designed to provide academic knowledge and lying instruction for student pilots with limited or no flying experience and to enable the students to qualify for Fast-Jet, Rotary or Multi-Engine specialist training. The training course is conducted in a wholly military environment and style and contains the required elements to ensure the pilot cadet will graduate with the knowledge and appreciation of how to be a mission commander not just a pilot. The PAA off the shelf EFT course is 80 hours of flight, hitting topics such as basic flight, navigation, formation, aerobatics and mission planning.

Fast Jet Training

The PAA Fast Jet course is broken into three phases, basic fast jet, advanced fast jet and tactical weapons training. The course is designed to produce a pilot who is self reliant, with the skills needed to fly the training aircraft to the limit of the aircraft capability with accuracy, confidence and with limited external assistance. Thus allowing graduation onto the clients conversion training unit for the front line fighter aircraft of choice.

Initial Entry Rotary Wing Training (IERW)

The PAA course is designed in two phases. Firstly, to give ab-initio pilots in basic helicopter flying techniques to meet the input standards required for the advanced phase of the course. The second phase will develop the student’s pure flying skills and the applied skills of instrument, navigation, formation, tactical flight, low-level and night flying such that the cadet pilot can move directly to a conversion training unit for training onto the clients selected front line helicopters.

Initial Night Vision Goggle Helicopter Course (INVG)

The course is designed to provide a basic theoretical and flying course that will allow the pilots who graduate to perform safe and efficient take offs, enroute transit and landings in VFR conditions using NVG’s. Focusing on how to safely leverage the extra situational awareness and performance that NVG technology can provide. Allowing transport operations to both lit and unlit known landing zones.

Advanced Night Vision Goggle Helicopter Course (ANVG)

The course is designed to provide aircrew with basic NVG flight skills with the knowledge required to use the NVG goggles and helicopter in a tactical environment. The course graduate will be able to apply the techniques learnt to evaluate unknown LZ’s for suitability, fly between unknown LZ’s, fly nap of the earth techniques, and perform tactical flight requirements in any suitable environment as required.

Initial Night Vision Goggle Fixed Wing Course (INVG)

The course is designed to provide a basic theoretical and flying course that will allow the pilots who graduate to perform safe and efficient take offs, enroute transit and landings in VFR conditions using NVG’s. Focusing on how to safely leverage the extra situational awareness and performance that NVG technology can provide. Allowing transport operations to both lit and unlit known landing zones.

Helicopter Crew Chief

The course is designed to provide the prospective Crew Chief with the knowledge required to provide effective support to the aircrew on all helicopter missions, including, passenger/cargo loading and control, LZ evaluation and basic SAR techniques, such as: wet winching, cliff winching, deck winching and mountain flying. At the end of the course the Crew Chief will be able to become an instrumental part of any crew on the client’s front line helicopters.

ISR Pilot / Camera Operator and Intelligence analysis course.

The course is designed to teach trained aircrew the mission requirements of Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance flights and how to plan missions to achieve the objective. As well the course will teach the basic operation of EO/IR camera payloads and the analysis techniques required to turn raw data into value added information.
